It's happening! The box you bought is finally taking on its heavy role. Keep hundreds of players on our server without further problems. However, it is not as easy as it may seem. Deciding which Linux distribution to choose and then install caused me a lot of wrinkles. Despite the problems with the installation of drivers for our very modern hardware, problems with the compilation of Adaptive Communication Environment (ACE), reconfiguration of the entire compilation process for a new machine, 64-bit technology, to problems with the perfect MySQL database setup for our server and workload. In the end, we are here with a new device ready for your demands. Great hardware, but what about software? Let's take a closer look. Our server now contains the following software components:
Linux Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" 64bit for server
The Adaptive Communication Environment (ACE) – 5.7.5
PHP 5.2.10, Apache2 2.2.12, MySQL 5.1.37
New Linux kernel 2.6.31
The file system now runs on EXT4 (until now ext3)
There are many novelties and software updates and they bring us new features, higher stability and new possibilities for further operation of the server. We hope that we will be able to achieve the quality and trouble-freeness that we have been looking for all along.
The whole data transfer is in progress, so excuse the occasional lags and outages on the server and on the pages. Thank you for understanding.
