As you have surely noticed, over the holidays it was very hectic and the transfer to the new place did not go smoothly. At first, it seemed that the transfer of the IP address was a superhuman task for our Internet provider. For several days, the server did not go from your point of view, even if only the public IP address did not go. The planned day originally turned out to be several days and the server behaved as an offline from the outside. I apologize for that, but I had no influence. We were promised some compensation, so we'll see what comes out of it eventually.
A new disk arrived on the server. We now have two discs with identical content on the server again. One disc left us after a while and the new one eventually cost up to 3000,- CZK, which I counted on, so no extra costs. So again we have two functional disks, there are still some small problems, but I should solve them already on the run, because the initial copy of the disk to both disks have 1:1 data the same, and identical just in the case of failure of one persists to this day and it is already suspicious. We’ll see and see how it goes this month. Thank you for your patience at the beginning of the year.
Forum. I'm gradually deploying an old forum with so much requested bug reporting. I will close all the old mistakes and focus only on the new ones. It will only be available until I deploy a whole new website with a slightly better content management system and more options than we have now. Our brand new website “from scratch” is finally canceled, because I am not able to complete it within my time limits and there are too many backlogs. I would rather spend my free time repairing. I've been looking on the internet for a couple of editorial systems, so I'm probably going to use one of them. As I wrote in the previous news, the original plan with helpers and big actions, where I was only to check the codes after them and lead the server and administration, did not work, which is understandable given the life events and personal lives of these people. Repairs will be a bit slower, but nothing we would not give together with a handful of players who keep coming back. That's how we started, and I don't see why we shouldn't do it again, just a little slower. Those who do not like it, of course, do not keep anything here, they can help us or move on. The forum database has some blocks “damaged” after years of hibernation, so the deployment will take about a day longer than planned. It’s just data, nothing that can’t be corrected. After the deployment, its update will be carried out, so do not be afraid of occasional outages of the forum and maybe even this site during the week.
Ads. The original annual budget after the server restart is gone and I have to plan this side of things as well. Since the server is a hobby and I never want it to become a job, I never want to earn money from it. I cancelled my account on the main website and it will be replaced by an advertisement. The ad will be available on the main site instead of the donate section and later also on the forum to pay for the server operation and I had less to worry about. The amount of advertising should therefore cover the basic operation of the server and thus allow its continuous operation. This is not a step I like, but a necessary one. I will try to incorporate it in such a way that the advertising does not bother and disturbs as little as possible. Hopefully it will look better on the new website.
